The Association for IEMT Practitioners

The Association for IEMT Practitioners is an independent professional association established in 2015 by Andrew T. Austin to support, represent, and uphold standards for practitioners using Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT). The Association provides a voluntary membership framework for practitioners who have completed recognised IEMT training and who wish to practise within a defined ethical, professional, and safeguarding context.

The Association does not operate as a regulatory authority and does not employ practitioners. All members practise independently and remain responsible for their own clinical work, professional indemnity, and legal compliance within their jurisdiction.

The primary purpose of the Association is to promote good practice, ethical integrity, and professional accountability in the application of Integral Eye Movement Therapy. This is achieved through:

• Maintaining a clear ethical and professional framework for members
• Supporting practitioner competence and ongoing professional development
• Providing public transparency regarding practitioner standards and expectations
• Encouraging informed and responsible use of IEMT within therapeutic practice

Membership of the Association signifies a practitioner’s commitment to working within these shared standards rather than conferring statutory status or licensure.

Members of the Association are required to adhere to published policies and professional expectations, including (but not limited to):

• Ethical practice and informed consent
• Confidentiality and data protection (including GDPR compliance where applicable)
• Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
• Appropriate boundaries, scope of practice, and referral
• A clear prohibition on conversion therapy or coercive practices

The Association maintains written policies and guidance documents to support ethical decision-making and to promote consistency across diverse professional backgrounds.

Membership is voluntary and open to practitioners who have completed recognised IEMT training. Practitioners may come from a range of professional backgrounds, including psychotherapy, psychology, counselling, nursing, medicine, coaching, and related helping professions.

Membership does not imply exclusivity, employment, or endorsement of individual clinical outcomes. It indicates that a practitioner has chosen to align their IEMT practice with the Association’s ethical framework and professional expectations.

The Association supports the ongoing development of Integral Eye Movement Therapy through:

• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities
• Practitioner education and reflective practice
• Engagement with research, case studies, and theoretical development
• Open dialogue with related professional, academic, and clinical communities

The Association encourages critical thinking, transparency, and responsible inquiry in relation to IEMT theory and application.

The Association exists to provide clarity for both practitioners and the public regarding what IEMT is, how it is practised, and the professional standards expected of those who choose to work with it.

By publishing its policies, frameworks, and practitioner expectations, the Association aims to support informed choice, ethical practice, and professional accountability within the field of Integral Eye Movement Therapy.

The Association for IEMT Practitioners Ltd is publicly listed on the UK Government’s Armed Forces Covenant businesses register. As a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, the organisation has formally committed to honour the Covenant’s principles of supporting the Armed Forces Community — including serving personnel (Regular and Reserve), Veterans, and their families — and ensuring they do not face disadvantage compared to other citizens in accessing services. recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to its work;

establish priority access or discounted therapeutic support for former and serving personnel presenting with trauma-related mental health symptoms;

provide appropriately trained practitioners offering support for service-related physical health issues, including chronic and phantom limb pain;

offer discounted or free education and training opportunities in Integral Eye Movement Therapy for eligible personnel. GOV.UK

Through this accreditation, the Association offers recognised CPD courses, workshops, online learning, and events in Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) for professionals across relevant fields. CPD UK
